Promotionsvortrag von Maximilian Kerner

On December 09, 2021 Maximilian Kerner presented and successfully defended his PhD thesis titled "Abscheidung submikroner Aerosolpartikeln in elektrostatisch ausgerüsteten Vliesstoffen - Experimentelle und numerische Untersuchungen".

In his work, Maximilian Kerner developed a new method to determine the electrostatic charge of nonwoven filter media by combining experimental and numerical investigations of aerosol deposition. A corresponding simulation method to account for the relevant effects was successfully validated by the experiments. The results of the work can be used to manufacture electrostatically charged nonwoven filter media optimized for the desired application, e.g. in respirators or HVAC systems.

The work was peer-reviewed by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Sergiy Antonyuk from the Institute of Particle Process Engineering (MVT) at the Technische Universität Kaiserslautern (TUK) and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Achim Dittler from the Institute of Mechanical Process Engineering and Mechanics (MVM) at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), chaired by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Martin Böhle from the Institute of Fluid Mechanics and Turbomachinery (SAM).
